Class Descriptions

Gentle/ Beginner Hatha Yoga is a form of yoga that uses posture and breathing methods as a means to health and well-being. Learn to stretch, strengthen and release tension while developing concentration and body awareness. This class is designed for anyone new to yoga or continuing students. Includes basic yoga postures and breathing practices, ending with a final relaxation.


Yogalates combines the practice of yoga with Pilates.Both practices involve attaining specific postures, emphasize correct breathing, and emphasize meditative mindfulness.Yogalates is designed to strengthen both the mind and the body through the combination of poses and exercises. 

Kundalini Yoga is a 5,000 year-old authentic system of yogic exercise and meditation that promotes health, happiness, and spiritual awareness. There are three basic components to Kundalini Yoga. There are the physical postures, literally thousands of kriyas (exercise sets) that strengthen and balance the nervous system, the glandular system and the circulatory system to promote optimum physical and emotional health. Breathing techniques (pranayam) assist a person in processing emotions and feelings, controlling moods, and developing concentration. Meditation techniques work to direct and discipline the mind. The practice of this yoga can give you the strength, courage and radiance to meet all of life's challenges with grace. Learn how this ancient technology of posture, breath,  mantra and meditation can strengthen all body systems, quiet your mind and help you to reach your fullest potential. This yoga is simple, deeply transformative and fun.   

Power Yoga Flow is an intermediate yoga class incorporating sun salutations, strength building standing series, followed by advanced core work and of course a relaxing savasana. Previous yoga experience required.

Tai Chi, the flowing movements of Tai Chi are a moving meditation where we experience the flow of energy within and around us. Chi flow in the body follows the path of the nervous system, vascular system and meridian lines. The movements of Tai-Chi were created to enhance this flow leading to greater health, vitality and longevity. As we cultivate this supreme, ultimate energy we become perceptively in tune with our body and mind. Tai Chi’s intimate relationship allows us to direct our own energies to heal.

Zumba is dance fitness set to Latin music with dance moves. One can also have two left feet and still do the program. You don’t have to be a dancer. It works the whole body — cardio and abs. You can burn from 500 to 1,000 calories in one Zumba class. It’s exercise in disguise. Everyone has smiles who does it.
Monthly Restorative Yoga Class-This class is held once a month and is offered by pre-registration only on first come basis. This class offers the amazing gifts of yoga without the strenuous activity. Restorative class utilize props to support postures that range from passive to mildly active. Restoratives are also a great way to balance an active practice or lifestyle, and will give you more energy and clarity.  Reiki healings are offered during this class. Open to all levels. Offered once a month Sunday evenings (dates to be announced)  7 pm to 8:30 pm. Fee $20, please bring two large pillows, two blankets, eye pillow, and bath towel.

Couple’s Yoga-Bring your significant other for a unique fun class that will enhance your flexibility, stress-level, communication (and golf swing) as we assist each other in partner yoga poses. Lots of laughs.
Pre-Natal Yoga is to practice the art of relaxation through breath awareness, reduce physical tension with yoga postures, and safely prepare for labor. Pre-registration is required.

Nancy West- Owner of Real Life Yoga in Holbrook
Nancy is a certified 500 hour yoga instructor and the owner of Real Life Yoga Studio in Holbrook. Nancy started her journey into yoga 15 years ago when one of her children was diagnosed with a life threatening illness. Yoga helped Nancy learn to stay in the moment, which in turn gave much peace in a stressful situation. Nancy states "Yoga literally saved my life". Nancy's passion led her to become a certified yoga instructor so she could share and teach others the gift of peace while riding out the storms life sends us. Since that time yoga has become her lifeline. Nancy is certified in Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga. Advanced Forrest Yoga, Trauma- Sensitive  Yoga, Yoga for children, Yoga for seniors, Pre-natal Yoga, and Yoga for Children. Nancy has trained at Yoga at the Ashram in Millis, Finding Inner Peace Yoga School, Kripalu, Omega, as well as training from an eclectic group of senior yoga teachers such as Ana Forest, Shiva Rea, Gary Kraftsow,  Aadil Pakhilvaia,  Desiree Rumbaugh,  David Swenson, and many, many more. Nancy has taught yoga to toddler up to seniors. Nancy is  a certified Reiki Master. Nancy is the mother of three daughters and grandmother of three. In May of 2007, Nancy opened Real Life Yoga Studio in Holbrook.

Details on Class Cards: We accept checks or cash only at the studio, class cards may be purchase by credit card online. If you purchase a class card online, print receipt and class card will be issued at studio at time of first visit. All class cards expire 2 months from date of purchase (the studio offers a discounted rate for the class cards as you will be frequenting us on a regular basis, otherwise it is suggested to pay as a drop-in if you are not going to attend classes regularly). Choose your package wisely as classes are non-transferable, cards cannot be put “on hold” and expiration dates cannot be extended for any reason other than a medical condition. To be considered for a medical extension, please submit a letter accompanied by a doctor’s note. All requests must be submitted prior to the expiration of your class card.
